Best Massage Table and Coverings

Let's start with the most important tool of our trade: the table. I travel to my clients- they prefer the luxury of an in home massage and I prefer the luxury of a free office space- so I opted for the Earthlite Luna table. Lightweight and sturdy option with a memory foam headrest and lifetime warranty.

Earthlite Luna Massage Table: My fav! It is, to the best of my knowledge, the lightest table on the market. Made out of aluminum legs instead of wood, this beauty weighs in at only 28 pounds. After six years of heavy use and traveling, I've had to replace the handle straps twice and carrying case once. The leather has light wear and tear on the edges (which I blame the airports for since it has gone to the Caribbean and back a few times). This table comes with a limited lifetime warranty and is very sturdy. I maintenance mine once every month or so to make sure screws are tight and everything gets a good wipe down. Take care of your table and it will take care of you. The only downside is that upholstery is not covered under warranty.

Flannel Sheets: No exceptions for me! My massage school started us off with flannel sheets and they truly are the softest, most comfortable sheets I have experienced. In the past I have cheaped out and bought twin size bed sheets which cover the table just fine but my clients complained! They could tell the difference and really appreciated the soft texture and warmth of the flannel. As a member of AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) I get a sweet discount on massage gear which these sheets really affordable.

Plastic table cover: This one is a must if you plan to do sports massage at an event or demos with your table instead of massage chair. The plastic bottom sheet allows for a quick wipe down between each client and protects your table material from sweat, sunscreen and cleaning products. I also like to use a plastic covered pillow for these types of events (this one I borrowed from the hospital- indefinitely).

The plastic table cover came in handy at this swim event in Key West when I volunteered to massage and cup the swimmers and bystanders on the beach. (Volunteering is an awesome networking opportunity as well!)
