Best Massage Oil & Best Massage Cream

You want something that is going to give you a nice glidability over the skin, but not be too oily that you can't grip the tissue and you want something that smells nice. I have really enjoyed sunflower oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, grape seed oil and olive oil but my all time favorite that tops it all, the mother of oils has to be coconut oil.

Coconut oil: Organic & fair trade coconut oil in a glass jar is my go to. This particular oil soaks into the skin nicely and doesn't leave the client with super slippery feet when they get off the massage table. Coconut oil also has a very mild coconut smell so it blends nicely with any essential oils you want to add.

Essential oil: BEWARE when buying essential oils. "Therapeutic grade" doesn't mean anything. You and I could start an essential oil company, put toilet water in a bottle and call it 'natural therapeutic grade' and no one could stop us. There is no organization that is testing and regulating essential oils so labels can be very deceiving. I prefer to use Young Living, DoTerra and Aura Cacia Organics brands. These companies use the top layer of the oil during production, which is highly concentrated and pure.

I normally bring along a few different essential oils and let the client choose their scent of the day to incorporate into the massage. Put a drop or two in your hand and cup it over their face a few inches away asking them to take a deep breath in. It allows the client to set a relaxing intention for the massage and they always love it! My favorites are lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and orange. Once in a while I'll mix it up and bring lemongrass, frankincense or tea tree. Just make sure if you are offering these oils you educate yourself about them and check for pregnancy, allergies or asthma first.

Biotone Massage Creme: It's rare but some clients do prefer cream over oil and Biotone provides a nice glidability for the duration of the massage. They have a line of really nice creme blends and my favorite is the 'pure touch organics'.

In no way am I affiliated with any of these products nor do I receive a commission if you purchase these products. I simply enjoy offering my experience and hope these recommendations have helped some of you!
